BACK IN THE 80'S...THIS WAS MARY KAYS NEW PINK MANSION
When I was associated with Mary Kay, her new house was almost finished. I was asked to design many "silk' floral decorations all throughout her home.
Mary Kays dramatic Kitchen! The interior on the first floor was two stories tall showing off huge windows draped in soft pale ...Yes..."PINK"! .
These BRASS CRANES were 5' tall and the cermanic tile flowers was 8" tall x 4' wide. Mary Kay was an elegant lady and she like very elegant decor'.
MARY KAYS Living Room had three of these balconys! Cameras were not as good then as they are now and I was not able to to get all three balconys into one picture. I had to combine 2 photos and a little photoshop to 'recreate' what the balconys looked like. Mary Kay would invite many of her Consultants to her home and she would stand in the middle balcony to 'address' her women.
Her Living Room where she addressed her Women also had 2 story windows. Actually most of her home was in pale mint green with accents of "pink". She loved the French look...for her furnishings.
This is still the Living Room. She loved elegant animals like swans and cranes.
THIS IS MARY KAY'S GRAND BEDROOM! She has an office at the top of the stairs where she wrote one of her books..
The other side of her huge bedroom. On one of the walls is the fireplace and a shelf high in the room where I had to build greenery on the two shelves on each side of the fireplace. Her photo that was on the cover of her first book hung over the fireplace. The house is still being finished and Mary Kay was just moving in to her new home!
*****There is more...lots more...a photo album full more but I thought you all would just like a peek into the 'World of Mary Kay' of which I had the honor and pleasure to work side by side with the "Queen of Cosmetics" for almost 8 years! I saw her every week either in her office on the 8th floor of her Corporate Office Building or at her house doing one thing or another for her. When she was at her home...I even saw her many times without her wig! I was her 'Personal Florist' and created many designs for her home, gifts for some of her ill Consultants or for Corporate Parties at the Convention Center or at her home!
Then I moved to Washington State and that 'miracle phase' of my life was over...working with the World's most 'beloved' Woman..."The Mary Kay Ashe"!!!
I picked up the pieces again and owned a Flower Shop in the foothill mountains of the Cascade Mountain Range when I got my first Freeze Dry Machine in 1991. I made floral designs, designed Wedding Flowers for the Ceremony and Reception along with beginning a whole new Indrustry Preserving Flowers. I did both jobs for years until I retired from the Wedding Flower Business in 2012. I will continue preserving flowers forever!
PAT BOONE and my Little Daughter!
YES!!!! Believe it or not...that is PAT BOONE!!! and he is singing "April Love" to MY Daughter and gave her , her 'first bouquet' like the song sings. Another long story but it connects with Mary Kay.
I went to the same Church as Mary Kay, Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. I knew that Pat Boone was going to perform at the Church. I could not get a baby sitter for my little Daughter and had to bring her with me that wonderful night! We were able to get front row seats and because all the people attending were older folks...my Daughter was the only one that 'never was kissed' and never got a bouquet of flowers from anyone...so she was selected!
My Son who was 16 was the main 'tech' in the Audio/Video booth in the back of the Church working all the Video and Audio. My Son was able to videp tape the whole performance with Pat Boone singing to my little Daughter! I guard that Video tape which is now on DVD with my life. Such a special story along with knowing Mary Kay!!!
